DALLAS, TX—Leadership Network (www.leadnet.org) equips many of the nation’s largest and most innovative churches with ideas, strategies and guidance on how to maximize their impact. And predictably, the 20-year-old organization is equally innovative in its own communication strategies.
The Dallas-based organization’s most recent initiative illustrates the point quite well. Leadership Network Advance is a new—and free—e-publication with best practices, important news and helpful ministry resources for forward-thinking pastoral and lay leaders. For Leadership Network, which formerly produced three smaller, more focused e-newsletters (Into Action, Explorer and Journey), the new publication represents an important step in its strategy to capture and distribute knowledge to high-impact church leaders—a strategy that also includes a variety of books, downloadable concept papers, tapes, videos and other resources.
“Experience has shown that our clients and friends are not interested in just one or two narrow issues, “ says Warren Bird, Leadership Network’s Director of Intellectual Capital. “Rather, these high-capacity leaders—regardless of their official job title—wrestle daily with the big picture. Leadership Network Advance responds accordingly with truly wide-ranging content. In a single issue, a reader might glean 10 or 12 separate actionable ideas and opportunities scattered over a number of different ministry areas.”
Published twice a month, Leadership Network Advance includes analysis and interviews with influential thought leaders and practitioners who are setting the curve for the church of the 21st Century. Feature articles so far have addressed such important topics as:
• The impact of a church’s culture on its ministry;
• The essentials of high-yield church planting;
• Keys to multi-site ministry; and
• Strategies for mobilizing high-capacity lay leaders.
Each issue includes statistical trends, news items, announcements of noteworthy events and a featured Leadership Network resource. Readers can also easily link to a handy archive of past issues and articles.
“In designing Leadership Network Advance, we were committed to not becoming just another publication that tooted our own horn,” says Bird. “Our editorial team is producing content that will make a positive difference in our readers’ lives and their ministry. The focus is always on stories and opportunities that provide practical ‘takeaway value’ for our readers.”
Andy Williams is the new editor of Leadership Network Advance. In addition to his new editorial role, Williams is actively involved in organic church planting and recently launched a public relations firm in Omaha, Nebraska.
