I am an introvert. I enjoy my alone time. Its an opportunity for me to recharge and gain perspective on the people and things around me. But there are times when I don’t need to be alone. There are moments when the connection, accountability, and encouragement of my peers is necessary to my health as a Christian, a husband, a leader, and a dad. For the past twenty years, I have focused on a mission statement given me one morning in the Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles by my guide and mentor, Peter Drucker.  He said, after eight years of working together, "It is your mission to work on transforming the latent energy of American Christianity into active energy."  That mission statement has served me well but it is becoming increasingly obsolete as the United States is no longer the center of the world.

Being a leader of a rapidly growing church requires a keen sense of discernment to ensure its health and continued vitality. Increasing numbers can serve as a false sense of stability, while systems, structures, and staff suffer under the strain of fast-paced change.
