Multisite Mergers Jumpstart InnovationLab Forming

Posted on 6/30/2011 by Wayne Smith in the Learnings Blog

Multisite Churches are beginning to discover that, along with building or buying new sites, there is another effective way of launching a new site: Mergers with existing churches. This emerging phenomenon is rapidly becoming a viable and desirable growth possibility. This strategy will often allow a growing church body to expand their impact and influence by merging with, adopting or acquiring churches that are ready for a new infusion of vision, passion and missionality! But with change comes challenges. Churches who are entering this arena are also asking the questions: What model of merging would be best for us? Who else has done this successfully?

Jumpstart InnovationLabs are designed for a maximum of six churches to come together three times over a one year period (twice at Leadership Network in Dallas along with an online meeting between our Dallas gatherings) to drill down on one specific ministry area they feel called to launch.  Our topic, that I (Wayne) will be leading, will be helping churches expand their reach by developing Multisite Mergers. This JumpStart InnovationLab for Multisite Mergers will expose your team to proven models of mergers that will help you form a working strategy for your church.  That’s our epic win. Should be a lot of fun. If your church is ready to look at this new growth strategy, then check it out  here or email Julia Burk for application information.

Dates are:
Launch Date - September 7-8, 2011
Online Meeting - March 27, 2012
Final Meeting - September 26-27, 2012

I am the Growth Consultant for the Central East Regional Group of the Unitarian Universalist Association and would like to receive any additional information you have on multisite mergers beyond that mentioned on your website.  Thanks very much and continued good luck in your work.
